The machinery directive 89/392/EEC requires CE marking of power operated gates and has been in force since 1st January 1995. After installation, testing and hand-over, all power operated gates must by law be CE marked in accordance with current statutory regulations.

BFT sets out in detail the quality control procedures which are observed by experienced and conscientious installers. A point worth noting is that it is common to see two similar systems installed to very different standards. BFT is a high quality product and it is BFTs intention to also guarantee you a quality service through the Recommended Installer scheme.

Most existing manual gates can be converted to automatic. Eagle Security will be able to offer you advice as to any changes that may be necessary.

It is important to consider the physical condition of the gateposts and to ensure that they are suitable for mounting the gate openers and accessories.

If you are considering a new installation, Eagle Security will be able to advise you or your contractor of the exact requirements regarding post sizes, positions, suitable gates and any cable provisions etc.

How will my gates

Gates can be automated to either swing open or to slide open and in the case of swinging gates the opener may be concealed underground or may be gate mounted. The most suitable opener for your installation will depend on the space available and the type of gate selected.

Controlling your gates?

Eagle Security has a wealth of experience in providing access control solutions for your automatic gate.

Whilst it may seem that you just want to control your gates by hand held remote control there is usually more to consider: Postman, milkman, waste disposal, paperboy etc. Friends and relatives arriving by vehicle and on foot.

VEHICLE INDUCTION LOOPS

Vehicle detection loops can be installed discreetly under the tarmac allowing the presence of vehicles to open the gates and prevent closing whilst obstructed. Timers can be used to restrict the use of these induction loop detectors, only allowing entry/exit by vehicles during agreed times.

TIMER CONTROL timers can be used to open and close the gates at selected times of the day or to time restrict access by remote control to certain people (i.e.the postman could have a remote control which only worked between 6am and 8am).

REMOTE CONTROLS The unique security frequency of a radio control allows She operator to open the gates without getting out of the car.

Which type of opener?

The choice is largely down to the space available - swing gates require a clear space for their opening arc whilst sliding gates require space to one or both sides of the gate. GATE MOUNTED SWING GATE OPENERS

Articulated Arm

Infroduced as an economical and adaptable gate automation solution and designed to overcome most installation problems which previously prevented automation of gates, particularly those with large gate posts. Electro-mechanical motors fitted with an articulated arm allow the flexible positioning of the motor unit away from the gate hinges. They open gates up to 125° and are subject to a maximum of 200kg per gate leaf at 2500mm wide and 250kg per gate leaf at 2000mm wide. If you don't know the weight of your gate your BFT installer will be able to advise.

SLIDING GATE

Rack & Pinion

We have a range of models to cope with both domestic and commercial automatic sliding gates. The motor units are secure and space saving and the system has a lockable release mechanism in the event of a power failure. The range can operate any gate weighing up to 4 tonnes.

UNDERGROUND SWING GATE OPENERS

Hydraulic & Mechanical

Designed to be concealed underground, below the gate hinge, these openers are popular on decorative wrought iron gates, being virtually invisible. Unlike other underground motors on the market, the BFT hydraulic operator has a built in hydraulic pump eliminating unsightly pump units mounted above ground. Hydraulic motors have fewer moving parts than mechanical equivalents, thus extending the lifespan of the motors. The BFT underground mechanical opener is a lower priced addition to the range and various models are available to suit gate leaves of up to four metres wide opening up to 180° The maximum leaf weight is 800 kgs.

GATE MOUNTED SWING GATE OPENERS

Hydraulic & Mechanical Pistons

Generally a more economical gate automation system than the underground system, Hydraulic pistons or electro-mechanical rams are mounted on the back of each gate leaf. This form of automation is particularly popular on wooden five bar farm type gates, although it is equally suited to most timber and wrought iron gate designs. It should be noted that on certain installations, it may be necessary to remove a small section of the gate post to allow the motor to be mounted correctly. Various models are available to suit gate leaves up to seven metres wide

A powerful, proven range of drive and control solutions for the automation of commercial and industrial sliding gates.

Continually rated and capable of moving sliding gates weighing up to 4 tonnes.

The sophisticated control options such as induction loop activation and card reader systems can be tailored to suit requirements.

Hydraulic post mounted systems designed for the demands of high usage commercial swing gates. Maximum leaf weights approaching 1 tonne and gate widths of 7000mm.

AUTOMATIC RISING ARM BARRIERS FOR TRAFFIC CONTROL

Traffic control and car parking barriers from 3000mm to 6000mm with a wide range of control systems to suit individual applications.

BOLLARDS

The Sloppy is the flagship bollard. This automated bollard comes complete with safety lighting and is suitable for the addition of traffic lights. It can be operated by various means and is usually installed to fail safe in the event of power failure.
