Is the British Standard for First Aid Kits in the Workplace.
The contents of this first aid kit reflects the needs for a competent up to date first aider.
Where there are specific and unusual hazards
The kit should be supplemented with additional items.
Employers are required to make a risk assessment to decide what the hazard levels are and how many employees are involved. It is not possible to give exact size of the First Aid kit required without the Risk assessment but the following will serve as a guide.
In a low hazard environment such as an office, shop or library with less than 25 employees a small kit should be appropriate. For 25 to 100 a medium kit for 100 or more then a large kit per 100 employees In a high hazard environment such as light engineering and assembly work, food processing, warehousing, extensive work with dangerous machinery or sharp instruments, construction, chemical manufacture etc you will need a small kit for less than 5, a medium kit for 5 to 25, for more than 25 you will need a large kit for each 25 employees.
